Practice/Organization Description
Aldo M. Leiva, Esq. provides legal services and solutions to U.S. and International clients involved in complex civil and commercial disputes before state and federal courts in Florida. His civil litigation practice includes complex business litigation, construction matters, and professional liability. Mr. Leiva also counsels and represents diverse clients in data security and privacy law, data breach notification, HIPAA/HITECH, and Gramm Bliley Leach Act compliance.
As a Cuba law and policy analyst, Mr. Leiva has also briefed the U.S. State Department, U.S. Representatives and Senators, and U.S. Presidential candidates on Cuba law and policy. He has also presented on Cuba trends and analysis to trade organizations, media organizations, and academic institutions, including FAES, American University, University of Miami, Indiana University, and St. Thomas University. A fluent Spanish speaker/writer with professional and personal ties to Latin America, Mr. Leiva has analyzed U.S.-Mexico legal issues for the National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade and the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey.
Mr. Leiva is an active member of the Florida Bar (Business Law, Litigation), the American Bar Association (Science and Technology Section), the Cuban American Bar Association (Cuba Committee), and the Society for Evolutionary Analysis in Law. He also participates in South Florida business organizations, including the U.S. Green Building Council and the Miami Downtown Development Authority, Technology Advisory Council. Mr. Leiva also serves as Chairman of the Board of the Amigos of the Cuban Heritage Collection at the University of Miami Library, the largest collection of Cuban reference and research materials outside Cuba.
