Practice/Organization Description
In 1976, a small group of women attorneys gathered in an empty courtroom to discuss ways to combine their strengths to improve opportunities for women attorneys and promote recognition of their capabilities. From its humble beginnings, the Association of Women Attorneys has emerged as a leading organization that has opened its doors to judges, attorneys, and law students. Today, the AWA provides monthly continuing legal education and professional and social opportunities to its members; screens judicial candidates and makes recommendations to the community; and mentors law students and recent graduates striving to find their way in the practice of law.
Membership in the AWA is open to any attorney practicing in Harris County. All female attorneys working or living in Harris County are encouraged to join. To apply for membership, please visit our website to download a membership application or attend any of our regular meeting. The AWA meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month. Meeting time and location is updated monthly at the website and on our Facebook page.
