Practice/Organization Description
I am an intellectual property lawyer located in Phoenix, AZ, and serving clients world-wide. After receiving a Ph. D. in Chemistry from Texas A&M University, I attended law school at the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
I have held law firm and in-house positions in Phoenix, Houston, San Francisco, and Santa Clara.
I have been married for 26 years. My wife and I have two adult sons and have three, grade-school-aged, special needs daughters that we adopted from the foster system in California.
My practice covers all facets of intellectual property law including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation and licensing, and internet and domain name law.
I have prosecuted and drafted patent applications and managed the prosecution and drafting of hundreds of cases in diverse areas such as natural product pharmaceuticals (including anti-cancer compositions) and nutraceuticals, purified microbes, drugs, medical devices such as intravascular stents (and pharmaceutical and polymer coatings for those stents) and robotic automation for constructing intravascular stents, intraocular lens materials, semiconductor processing methods and equipment, medical/surgical equipment, software, and industrial scale polyolefin polymerization and polymerization catalysts.
I have prepared patent and trademark validity and infringement opinions, clearance opinions, and trademark oppositions. I am experienced with conducting domain name dispute arbitrations and negotiating cybersquatting dispute settlements.
Admitted in Arizona, California, Texas, and at the USPTO.
I have represented a diverse set of clients ranging from individual inventors to start-up companies to multinational oil and chemical companies and multinational pharmaceutical and medical device companies. I served many of these clients in an in-house capacity. So, I have experience with how large companies work from the inside.
