Frank Cardenas

Practice/Organization Description

THE CARDENAS LAW GROUP, PLC specializes in commercial transactions and business litigation for small and medium-sized businesses. At CLG, we take great pride in our ability to service our clients in the negotiation of transactions and preparation of documentation designed to enhance their competitive position. We recognize that a lawsuit prevented is often a sounder business outcome than a victory in court. Our aim is to protect and advance our client’s business objectives and deliver our best counsel in a cost-effective manner. Our areas of practice cover all the legal aspects of the commercial transaction and we liaise with securities, labor law and intellectual property specialists to meet our clients’ more specialized needs. The firm is led by its founder Frank C. Cardenas.

Frank Cardenas began his legal career in the Corporations and Capital Markets Department of O’Melveny & Myers where he was involved in all aspects of business transactions and counseling. Following his tenure at O’Melveny, he was appointed to the City of Los Angeles’ Community Redevelopment Agency governing board, and thereafter, to the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works. From 1996-2001, Frank took a hiatus from the practice of law to serve as Chief of Staff and Executive Officer of Administration for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

He has significant experience in all aspects of business including initial organization, early and late-stage financings, private placements, acquisitions, asset disposition, reorganization, procurement, management-employee relations and land use and lease matters. He currently serves as general counsel to several select companies, including a New York-based asset management firm and an alternative energy company.

Frank is a proud graduate of the University of Southern California and Harvard Law School where he served on the Harvard Journal on Legislation. He also holds certificates in Project Management from UCLA and Construction Management from the Turner Construction Program in Construction Management.
