Grant Smith is licensed to practice law in Wisconsin, and in the process of becoming licensed in Minnesota. He concentrates in the area of Criminal Defense.
Grant graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 2006, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and minors in Spanish and International Studies. He received his Juris Doctorate from William College of Law, in May 2009. While at William Mitchell, Grant was a research assistant, examining the associational rights of children. Grant also received a CALI Award of Excellence in his Criminal Appeals Clinic.
Before co-founding Ascheman & Smith, Grant was a law clerk for a solo criminal defense attorney. He assisted with trial preparation for clients charged with major felonies in state and federal court. He was also a certified student attorney for the Legal Rights Center in Minneapolis, where he assisted people facing criminal charges who were unable to afford an attorney.
Prior to entering the legal world, Grant has worked as a Campaign Manager and Field Organizer in the political arena.
