Jason began his legal career in 2002 with the law firm of Lopez, Hodes, Restaino, Milman & Skikos. There he worked closely with Ramon Lopez and other senior partners on a variety of high-profile, complex-litigation projects including Zyprexa®, Vioxx®, Baycol®, Sulzer Hip and Knees, and the UCI Liver Transplant cases.
He also worked closely with the firm’s medical malpractice department under the tutelage of senior partners and ABOTA members Daniel M. Hodes and Jeffrey A. Milman. Jason played a key role in more than a dozen complex cases resulting in seven-figure settlements and verdicts including three birth-injury cases which settled for a minimum of $2.5 million, a $1.2 million settlement on a defamation case and a $6 million settlement on a post-operative, overmedication, hypoxic brain-injury case.
In 2006, Jason joined the Orange County District Attorney’s Office as a Deputy District Attorney for a year of intense courtroom litigation. There he prosecuted thousands of cases, sharpening his trial skills daily under the tutelage of former homicide prosecutors, Dennis Conway and Bob Molko. Jason tried numerous cases to verdict and was successful against some of the very best criminal defense attorneys in the State of California.
Presently, Jason is actively involved with the firm’s Gadolinium/NSF and Advanced Medical Optics (”AMO”) litigations, among others. He is a member of the science and expert committee and deposition teams in the federal gadolinium cases and he was also nominated and selected to chair the science and expert committee in the coordinated California-state gadolinium cases. In the AMO litigation, Mr. Ochs spear-headed the electronic-discovery committee and is also an active member of the deposition team. Jason is also actively involved with a class action lawsuit representing dentists against Nobel Biocare regarding failed dental implants.
