Practice/Organization Description

I am a trial lawyer and Chair of the Litigation Practice Group at LP, a dynamic, entrepreneurial, mid-size Chicago law firm, where I defend both companies of all sizes and individuals against overreaching plaintiffs' lawyers and over-zealous government investigators and prosecutors. Although I have broad experience in a variety of litigation areas, my practice currently focuses on business torts; commercial and class action defense; product liability and mass/toxic tort defense; and white collar criminal defense and corporate internal investigation.

As a partner at three premiere international law firms, I gained extensive experience in complex litigation matters and handled numerous smaller matters on my own. As a federal prosecutor in Miami, I took nearly 20 cases to verdict, brought another dozen to the verge of jury selection, and spent nearly every day in court, handling all manner of evidentiary hearings and oral arguments, as well as criminal appeals. These past experiences have inspired me to speak, write, and teach; Google my name, and you're bound to find something that interests you.

Currently, I am building my practice (and those of the attorneys in my Group) at a firm that values client service, excellent work product, and cost-effective legal representation above all else. My Group comprises "refugees" from big Chicago law firms, and we all bring top academic and professional credentials to bear on our clients' legal problems. We are also committed to working with our clients to identify fee structures that provide predictability and allow LP to share in both risks and rewards.

LP has repeatedly been named one of Illinois's "Best Places to Work," is a founding member of the Chicago Climate Exchange, and features a Real Estate practice that has been #1 in the Midwest for the past two years, according to Midwest Real Estate News. The firm culture is one that prizes deep, long-term client relationships, which we achieve through an extreme devotion to responsive, professional client service. Our current Alternative Fee Arrangement offerings, coupled with a rate freeze at 2008 levels, demonstrates our willingness to work with our clients to achieve their business objectives in the most efficient manner possible.

We are, of course, on the web. Please take a stroll through our website, designed by folks who just took second place in a Chicagoland marketing competition. And don't hesitate to contact me or any of my colleagues if we can be of service, in whatever capacity.
