Practice/Organization Description

Our firm, Law Offices of Mark Schwarz, was founded in New York City in January 1984 and has since been continually engaged in the general practice of law. We practice in two departments: Real Estate and Securities, as well as the firm?s inter-departmental practice areas described below. The firm was founded to represent the interests of entrepreneurs and commercial enterprises, with a strategy of resolving complex legal issues consistent with the client?s budget and needs. We believe that the client has the right to demand responsive service and make a point of delivering it. We also believe that ethics are an integral part of our business and that quality services and representation go hand in hand with integrity.

Mark Schwarz?s experience in real estate law results from 25 years of practice handling significant matters on behalf of owners and developers as well as individual investors. These include single and multi-unit residential transactions, land development, investment partnerships, mortgage financing, examination of title and financing of domestic and foreign entities related to real estate transaction. We also advise clients on the tax implications of complex real estate investments.

Mr. Schwarz?s securities practice focuses on underwriting and broker-dealer transactions, having responsibility for preparing complex offering documents and review for regulatory purposes of filing and submissions before Federal and state agencies, various securities exchanges and industry self-regulatory organizations.

Mr. Schwarz received his LL.B. degree from Columbia Law School in 1967 with a B.A. from Pennsylvania State University in 1964. After receiving his LL.B. degree, he served as law clerk to the Honorable John C. Bell, Jr., Chief Justice of Pennsylvania in 1967-68 and thereafter served as law clerk to the Honorable John Biggs, Jr., Chief Judge of the Third Circuit United States Court of Appeals in 1968-69. As an associate attorney at Dewey, Ballantine from 1971-74, a national law firm whose real estate department represents some of the nation?s largest lenders, Mr. Schwarz was responsible for handling numerous multi-million dollar financings. Mr. Schwarz thereafter was associated with Dreyer & Traub, a law firm widely known for its representation of real estate developers and entrepreneurs, where Mr. Schwarz was responsible for heading the representation of the Grand Hyatt acquisition and UDC financing for the Trump organization. As a partner at the Certilman, Haft law firm from 1978-84, Mr. Schwarz handled dozens of investment ships and broker-dealer matters.

Mr. Schwarz is admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania and New York courts, the Third United States Judicial Circuit, and Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, and its real property and securities law sections. He has written on topics such as business planning, real estate law and investments. Mr. Schwarz is listed in Who?s Who in American Colleges and Universities.
