Practice/Organization Description
Ryan Scott Nalley began the Law Office of Ryan Scott Nalley in 2008 as a solo practitioner concentrating primarily in employment and civil rights litigation, with an emphasis on claims pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938. However, his office is likely most experienced in handling cases pursuant to the American's with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the Family Medical Leave Act of 1993. Nevertheless, his office has successfully handled virtually all forms employment discrimination claims, as well as retaliation; Employment Retirement Income Security Act; and dozens of Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act claims and unemployment appeals.
Today, he continues to successfully do the same.
Mr. Nalley, credits most of his litigation skills and general success to his back round as a private detective, and the experience while working on discrimination claims under various statutes including the Fair Housing Act under a Supreme Court Rule 711 student license at the John Marshall Fair Housing Legal Clinic.
As a private detective for over four years, Mr. Nalley travelled the country investigating a variety of different types of cases, including but not limited to, capital homicide cases and other major felonies, workplace discrimination and other corporate malfeasance, insurance fraud, surveilling individuals suspected of workman's compensation fraud and plaintiff's in potentially million dollar personal injury cases , locating and interviewing witnesses, missing persons, testifying in depositions and trials, and serving due process.
At the John Marshall Fair Housing Legal Aid Clinic as a student with a Supreme Court Rule 711 liscence he handled a number disability, religious, and racial discrimination cases. His most noteworthy accomplishment was a racial dicrimination case, in which he functioned as lead counsel in a team of two other students--under the supervision of Professor Damien Ortiz. At trial he lead the team to not only to win the case, but also to secure a verdict that resulted in the largest verdict of any racial discrimination case the in the clinic's history. (It should be mentioned that attorneys from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development "HUD" assisted in the preparation and trial, however, Nalley was specifically charged with the prove-up of damages, among other tasks at trial.)
His office also handles criminal defense matters, contract and severance pay disputes, as well as general litigation involving a variety torts such as personal injury, defamation, negligence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
The Law Office of Ryan Scott Nalley has has a oroven track record of successfully handling cases pursuant to, but not limited to, the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990, The Family Medical Leave Act of 1993, The Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, the Illinois Minimum Wage Law, the Wage Payment and Collection Act, Illinois Whistleblower Act violations, Retaliatory Discharge, ERISA claims, sexual harassment, virtually every type of discrimination claim pursuant to Title VII of The Civil Right Act of 1964, the Illinois Human Rights Act, as well as various other statutes; unemployment benefit appeals, severance, release, and non-compete and negotiations, other general civil litigation, and criminal defense matters.
