Practice/Organization Description
I am a general law practitioner with focus in the areas of civil litigation, business law, and real estate.
In my civil litigation practice, I represent individuals and businesses in resolving various legal issues, including disputes arising from accidents causing personal injury, as well as cases involving medical malpractice, breach of contract, construction litigation, debt collection, landlord/tenant issues, civil rights violations, insurance litigation, and administrative appeals.
As part of my business law practice, I provide start-up companies with business planning and development assistance, including creating a business plan, applying for a bank loan, choosing and forming a business entity, and properly establishing customer and vendor accounts. During the operating stage of the business, I work with owners and managers in drafting and reviewing contracts, maintaining compliance with various state and local laws, addressing employee related issues, and handling any business-related legal disputes. I also work with owners in valuing, dissolving, or selling their business.
Before attending law school, I founded and managed several successful businesses in retail, insurance, real estate, and health and fitness. My personal entrepreneurial experiences allow me to understand legal issues from the perspective of a business owner. These experiences, combined with my business and law degrees, provide me the knowledge and skill necessary to effectively counsel my clients in starting, developing and operating a successful business.
My work as a real estate attorney is multifaceted, and has included real estate purchases and transfers, foreclosure and foreclosure defense, landlord/tenant disputes, eviction and eviction defense, homeowners association litigation, construction contract disputes, mortgage and promissory note drafting and review, property tax assessment disputes, liens, timeshare acquisition and relinquishment, and business property valuation and transfers.
