Practice/Organization Description
Victoria Holstein-Childress is a partner in Reed Smith's Financial Industry Group. Victoria has a nationwide practice representing financial services institutions and other corporate and individual clients in high-stakes civil litigation and government enforcement matters. Victoria represents clients in a broad range of cases before state and federal courts, including those involving lending, loan servicing, and securitization practices, insurance, securities sales, corporate fiduciary duties, and other business litigation matters. Victoria also has extensive experience with litigation relating to distressed and failed banks. Victoria’s client representations frequently involve concurrent government enforcement and civil litigation, congressional investigations, and/or multiple class actions.
In the enforcement arena, Victoria represents companies and executives in investigations and actions by the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, federal bank regulators, state attorneys general, and other federal and state regulatory agencies. Victoria also advises clients on white collar criminal matters, including alleged money laundering and mortgage fraud issues.
Victoria’s recent clients include a number of leading banks, mortgage lenders, mortgage servicers, securities firms, and other financial services companies, bankruptcy trustees, and individual directors and officers. A frequent speaker on arbitration, insurance law, federal jurisdiction, administrative estoppel, and complex litigation, Victoria has also authored several publications addressing these matters.
