Practice/Organization Description

I am a new attorney, having been admitted to the Utah State Bar in May 2011. While in law school, I worked as a Law Clerk at the law firm of Dunn & Dunn. During that time I assisted attorneys with all aspects of civil litigation. I have worked on cases in these areas:

-- Personal Injury

-- Medical Malpractice

-- Workers Compensation

-- Employment Law

-- Insurance Defense

I have assisted attorneys at Dunn & Dunn with cases in Utah state courts, the Federal District Court for the state of Utah, the Utah Supreme Court, and the Utah Court of Appeals. I have also worked on a case involved in multidistrict litigation.

One of the most significant cases I have worked on is assisting Susan Black Dunn in representing present and former narcotics officers involved in busting methamphetamine labs in the 1980s and 1990s. Many of these officers are now suffering from health problems associated with exposure to the chemicals in these labs. We are helping these officers with their Workers Compensation claims.

I am interested in gaining more experience in the areas of Workers Compensation, Social Security benefits, and Employment law generally.

Prior to Law School, I taught history at Salt Lake Community College for sixteen years. I taught American Civilization (a survey U.S. history course), Western Civilization and World History.

I am also involved in local community theater. I served on the Board of Trustees of StageRight TheaterCompany for many years, and am presently a member of the Ensemble at Pinnacle Acting Company. While on the Board at StageRight, I helped with the season selection process, revised and updated the company's bylaws, and helped develop anti-harassment and discrimination policies for the company. These policies were also adopted by the Draper Historic Theater and influenced similar policies adopted by the Midvale Arts Council. I am also a member of Utah Lawyers for the Arts, providing pro bono legal services to low income arts groups.
