The Tennessee Air Pollution Control Board (“”Board”) issued a Technical Secretary’s Order and Assessment of Civil Penalty (“Order”) to Nokian Tyres U.S. Operation (“Nokian”) addressing alleged violations of an Air Permit. See Case No. APC25-0151.
The Order provides that Nokian operates a rubber manufacturing facility in Dayton, Tennessee.
The facility is stated to operate pursuant to a True Minor operating permit that consists of certain air contaminant sources.
The Tennessee Division of Air Pollution Control (“Division”) is stated to have conducted an inspection at the facility on April 9th. Based on a review of the facility’s record for the period of March 1, 2023, through April 9, 2025, the Division is stated to have determined that 534 recorded daily pressure drop readings across 7 baghouses were below the permitted limit for minimum pressure drop for each baghouse. Further, the Order provides that the records reviewed the indicated that during the total production of tire bladders for three 12-consecutive month periods exceeded the permitted limit as shown in the paragraph X in the Order.
The Order proposes a civil penalty of $15,750.00. Further, it provides certain appeal rights.
