The United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) Office of Inspector General (“OIG”) in a December 17th memorandum announced a Project Notification titled:

EPA Actions to Address Air Toxics Emissions Through Its Residual Risk and Technology Review Program

See Project No. OA&E-FY19-0091.

The Memorandum announcing the Project Notification originates from James Hatfield of OIG and is directed to William Wehrum, Assistant Administrator, EPA Office of Air and Radiation.

OIG states its objective is to:

. . . determine whether the EPA’s residual RTR process has sufficiently identified and addressed any elevated cancer risks from air toxics emitted by facilities.

OIG states that it plans to conduct work at EPA offices in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, and at other EPA headquarters and regional offices as necessary.

A copy of the Project Notification can be found here.
