Additional Open Period Announced for Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Models 2, 3, and 4 – The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (Innovation Center) is currently testing four episode payment models through the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) initiative.  On Friday, February 14, 2014, the Innovation Center announced a Winter Open Period during which additional providers may be considered for participation in Models 2, 3, and 4.  Intake forms must be submitted by April 18, 2014.  The notice is available here.  For more information about the BPCI initiative, please click here, or visit the BPCI website here

Wyden Assumes Role as Chairman of Senate Finance Committee – On February 12, 2014, Senator Ron Wyden, a Democratic representative from Oregon, officially became the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.  The Senate Finance Committee oversees the Medicare program.  Senator Wyden succeeds former Senator Max Baucus, a Democratic representative from Montana, who was recently confirmed as ambassador to China.  To view the resolution appointing Wyden, click here.
