OMB to Review Proposed Rule on Conditions of Participation for Hospitals – The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) received for review on January 4, 2016, a proposed rule (RIN 0938-AS21) that would revise the Medicare Conditions of Participation for hospitals and critical access hospitals.  The rule, “Hospital and Critical Access Hospital (CAH) Changes to Promote Innovation, Flexibility, and Improvement in Patient Care (CMS-3295-P),” is listed as “economically significant” and, according to OMB, is intended to conform the requirements to current standards of practice and to support improvements in quality of care, reduce barriers to care, and reduce some issues that may exacerbate workforce shortage concerns.
