The District of Columbia Office of Planning (OP) has extended the deadline for individuals and groups to submit proposed amendments to D.C.'s Comprehensive Plan, which guides future growth and development in the District. OP has moved the last day of the "open call" period for amendment applications and related revision proposals from May 26 to June 23.
OP said it has received hundreds of amendment proposals from a variety of stakeholders, expects hundreds more, and extended the deadline in response to requests from community groups. The agency is accepting amendment applications online.
As noted in our previous alert, the Comprehensive Plan addresses land use, economic development, housing, environmental protection, historic preservation, transportation, and more. OP is leading the effort to update the plan "the primary tool that helps the District to manage change in a way that embraces progress while protecting the qualities that make D.C. a special place."
