  • A group of 20 Democratic AGs and the Governor of Kentucky obtained a temporary restraining order (TRO) barring the U.S. Department of Agriculture from requiring states to produce Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) records and barring the agency from instituting or continuing noncompliance procedures, such as withholding SNAP funding.
  • The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California’s order also required the parties to file supplemental briefing on: (1) whether a statutory provision allows the USDA to collect the requested SNAP data without following agreed-upon protocols, and (2) whether alternative, workable forms of relief are available.
  • We previously covered the AGs’ initiation of this lawsuit.
