DOS Delay of Effective Date of Final Rule Raising Consular Service Fees

Previously the Department of State announced the NIV Consular processing fees would increase. This Client Alert is to notify MVA Immigration Clients that the effective date of the final rule (88FR 18243) which raises some NIV Consular processing fees and the fee for a Border Crossing Card for Mexican citizens age 15 and over is delayed from 05/30/2023 until 06/17/2023.

As reminder the current NIV Consular Fees are as follows:

  • Non-Petition Based Nonimmigrant visa (Except E Category) - $160
  • H, L, O, P, Q and R Category Nonimmigrant Visa - $190
  • E Category Nonimmigrant Visa - $205
  • Border Crossing Card – age 15 and over (10 year validity) - $160

Effective June 17, 2023 the above Nonimmigrant Consular Fees will increase to the following:

  • Non-Petition Based Nonimmigrant visa (Except E Category) - $185
  • H, L, O, P, Q and R Category Nonimmigrant Visa - $205
  • E Category Nonimmigrant Visa - $315
  • Border Crossing Card – age 15 and over (10 year validity) - $185
