The European Commission has published a Regulation amending the EU Benchmarks Regulation in the Official Journal of the European Union. The amending Regulation aims to introduce minimum requirements for EU Climate Transition Benchmarks and EU Paris-aligned Benchmarks to improve the accuracy and integrity of those benchmarks for their users. Key amendments include:

  • Introduction of definitions of the EU Climate Transition Benchmark and EU Paris-aligned Benchmark; and
  • Introduction of a set of requirements that must be met by administrators in order for them to be eligible to use those labels when marketing such benchmarks.

The Regulation will enter into force on, and be directly applicable across the EU from, December 10, 2019.
