On October 30, the FHFA announced it released its annual housing report describing affordable housing activities in 2024 for the government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs). The agency found that, in 2024, Freddie Mac met all its single-family and multifamily housing goals, while Fannie Mae met all but the single-family very low-income home purchase goal — missing the benchmark.
The new report also included information about the distribution of single-family loans by group median incomes, among other metrics. In addition, the report broke down the single-family mortgage product-types purchased by each GSE, as well as information on mortgage payment type, loan-to-value ratios, and credit scores. Lastly, the report described the affordable housing allocations made by each GSE, the FHFA’s efforts to survey mortgage markets and release loan-level data, and discussed subprime, nontraditional, and higher-priced mortgage loans.
