Will Nigeria’s fresh look into gas flaring, finally end it?

At present, reports indicate that oil companies in Nigeria produce over four billion standard cubic feet (scf) of gas daily, of which about 700 million scf are wasted through flaring.

To reduce this waste, the CEO and managing director of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), Uche Orji, revealed plans to invest in the biggest gas flare capture in the country.

Go-ahead for the Rovuma basin liquefied natural gas project could double the impoverished nation’s GDP.

U.S. oil and gas group Anadarko Petroleum has given the green light to a gas project that will not only transform Mozambique’s economy but have spin-offs for South African business worth at least ZAR7.2 billion.

Investors on board for Rovuma Offshore Area 1 Block

Japanese conglomerate Mitsui together with its business partners have made a final investment decision on an LNG project relating to Rovuma Offshore Area 1 Block (Area 1) in Mozambique.

Mitsui holds a 20% interest in Area 1 through Mitsui E&P Mozambique Area 1 Limited (MEPMOZ, Mitsui: 50%), which is jointly owned by Mitsui and the Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC).
