On April 8, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz issued Emergency Executive Order 20-33, which extended the current stay-at-home order until Sunday, May 3 at 11:59 pm.

Additionally, the Walz Administration issued updated guidance (available at this link, with the April 8 updates in blue text) that expands the types of businesses that may operate during the stay-at-home order. Notably, the order now permits “[w]orkers supporting minimum basic operations in all businesses and other organizations” to go to work, as other states have already allowed.

If you need support with any of the following items, Dorsey is here to help:

  • interpreting stay-at-home orders. On an on-going basis, the Dorsey team has been providing this guidance in regard to orders across the country;
  • providing assurance to employees that they may continue working (including with documentation);
  • responding to inquiries from stakeholders, such as regulators, organized labor, and law enforcement; and
  • to the extent that any of your operations are not clearly permitted to continue operating based on the plain language of a given state’s orders, advocating for permission to continue operating.

DISCLAIMER: Because of the generality of this update, the information provided herein may not be applicable in all situations and should not be acted upon without specific legal advice based on particular situations.
