Q: Should we postpone elective surgeries?

A: Yes. On March 18, 2020, CMS released recommendations urging hospitals and physicians to postpone elective surgeries and services. The guidance provides a table for hospitals and surgeons to use to determine whether a service should be postponed.

This step is being taken to help hospitals and providers conserve critical PPE and other resources, including health care staff, to treat COVID-19 patients.
