The HealthEC / US Renal Care data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. According to this source, HealthEC is a health technology company that provides certain services to other entities, including US Renal Care.

Last year, HealthEC detected suspicious activity within its computer network. In response, HealthEC launched an investigation, ultimately confirming that the company had been the target of a cyberattack between July 14, 20232 and July 23, 2023. During this period, an unauthorized party was able to access certain files stored on HealthEC’s computer network, including those containing confidential information belonging to US Renal Care patients.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, HealthEC reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted.

On December 22, 2023, HealthEC began sending out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident.
