In carrying out the mandate of the Public Health Service Act and in an effort to address the country’s drug crisis, the Department of Health and Human Services (“HHS”) has made $350 million available for grant funding to expand access to substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health services at community health centers across the nation.  These grant funds will support health centers in implementing and advancing evidence-based strategies to expand access to quality integrated SUD prevention and treatment services, including services related to opioid use disorder, and mental health services, focusing on that increase the risk for, or co-occur with SUD.  The deadlines are extremely tight to apply for these grants.  Funding is available for Fiscal Year 2018 at a base amount of $100,000 to expand access to integrated SUD and/or mental health services.  There is also an opportunity for health centers to request one-time funding up to $150,000 to support increased access to integrated SUD and/or mental health services.

Grant applications are due July 16, 2018, and Grant awards are expected to be made in September of this year by HHS’s Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
