U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Marcia L. Fudge recently announced that almost 2,000 Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) would receive a share of more than 19,000 new Housing Choice Vouchers. Secretary Fudge made the announcement late last month during a visit to Falls Church, Virginia.

“To help people who are dealing with the housing affordability crisis, including people experiencing homelessness, we are awarding more than 19,000 new Housing Choice Vouchers to housing agencies throughout the country,” Secretary Fudge said in a HUD news release. “HUD is committed to ensuring people have access to the resources and tools they need to get a decent and safe home. That is what everyone in this country deserves. Every eligible household should have access to a voucher. No one should have to sleep on the street or in their car because they can’t afford rent.”

The funds for these new vouchers were appropriated in the FY 2022 Consolidated Appropriations Act and total $214,519,250, which includes housing assistance payments and administrative fees. Individual PHA awards can be found on a new voucher allocation spreadsheet.
