The Senate is in session this week, but House Republicans have canceled votes as an attempt to force Senate Democrats to support a clean continuing resolution that would extend government funding through November 20. Democrats, however, have held firm thus far, demanding that any funding bill must include an extension of the Affordable Care Act enhanced premium tax credits that are set to expire at the end of the year. The government is set to experience a lapse in funding on Tuesday if an agreement is not reached. Agencies are posting plans for operations should a gap in funding occur.

Congressional leaders from both parties will meet with President Trump at the White House on Monday in an attempt to reach a last-minute agreement after federal agencies announced their respective shutdown staffing contingency plans.

The upper chamber will vote on the nomination of former Rep. Mike Waltz to serve as U.S. Representative to United Nations General Assembly. They will also hold an initial vote on legislation that would prevent government shutdowns by automatically extending appropriations from the previous year if Congress doesn’t pass spending bills.

Separately, Trump will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday at the White House where they will discuss the Administration’s reported 21-point peace proposal for Gaza.
