  • In a video statement, Louisiana AG Jeff Landry officially announced his candidacy for governor. In the video, which was posted to YouTube on October 5, Landry, a former U.S. Congressman for Louisiana’s 3rd electoral district, described his Louisiana roots and upbringing, then touched on a series of themes, including the role of parents in education, crime, outmigration and taxes.
  • Concurrently, Louisiana Representative John Stefanski, a Republican, announced his candidacy for AG to replace AG Landry. Stefanski was first elected to the legislature in 2017 and is the chair of the House and Governmental Affairs Committee. Louisiana Solicitor General Liz Murrill has also launched her campaign for attorney general. The election will be held on November 18, 2023.
