The Arkansas Oil Marketers Association (“AOMA”) in conjunction with the Arkansas Bureau of Standards (“BOS”), which is a component of the Arkansas Department of Agriculture, has issued a notice that retail motor fuel outlets with mechanical dispensers can display and sell in half-gallon increments beginning on March 11th.
This allowance is stated to expire on July 1, 2022.
The BOS is the only Weights and Measures regulatory agency in the State of Arkansas. It provides consumers and industry with oversight and protection in commercial transactions. The mission includes equity and fairness in commercial transactions in the marketplace by establishing accuracy and uniformity in the State of Arkansas’s commerce through enforcement of laws and regulations which benefit and protect buyers and sellers of the products and services.
The reason for extension for mechanical dispensers is stated to be the need to acquire conversion kits to display higher fuel prices. BOS and AOMA indicate that obtaining such conversion kits may take several weeks due to supply chain issues.
The notice states that all retail motor outlets that sell fuel in half-gallon increments shall display signage on the pump giving notice of the half-gallon pricing. Capitalized letters are required to be at a minimum height of three inches and state the following:
ALL FUEL PRICES ARE IN CENTS PER HALF (1/2) GALLON. SEE INSIDE ATTENDANT FOR FULL PRICE.
