New California Law Increases Antitrust Penalties

  • California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law Senate Bill 763, co-sponsored by AG Rob Bonta, which strengthens antitrust enforcement under state law.
  • The new law increased criminal fines for corporations from $1 million to $6 million per violation, and increased criminal fines for individuals from $250,000 to $1 million per violation.
  • The law also added civil penalties of up to $1 million per violation that courts can impose.
