On February 29, 2016, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency issued Bulletin 2016-6, which provides additional guidance on the process for enforcement actions based on noncompliance with BSA compliance requirements or repeat or uncorrected BSA compliance problems. The Bulletin is intended to supplement OCC Bulletin 2007-36. which provides the Interagency Statement on Enforcement of Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Requirements. This recent Bulletin is intended to advise national banks, federal savings associations and federal branches and agencies of the process the OCC has implemented to provide an opportunity to respond to potential noncompliance with BSA requirements.
