Get a tour through our 2015 Healthcare Policy Management Report survey findings during a free webinar co-hosted by the American Hospital Association on Wednesday, October 21.

The healthcare landscape is ever-shifting—providing unique challenges for executives who build and execute policy management programs.  With little benchmarking data available, it’s hard to know how well these programs are performing.

Benchmarking against peers is the best way to understand areas where programs can evolve. On Wednesday, Oct. 21, we will share insights gathered from our survey results during a free webinar, Benchmarking Your Policy Management Program: Exclusive Health Care Research Study Results. The webinar will provide practical recommendations to help ethics and compliance leaders leverage the survey findings within their training programs.

During the webinar, we’ll reveal findings from our soon-to-be-released benchmark report, addressing some of the top questions healthcare organizations have around policy management, including:

  • What level of resources do healthcare organizations typically assign to policy management programs?
  • Are healthcare organizations generally satisfied with their approach to policy management?
  • How do healthcare organizations measure the effectiveness of policy management?

As a preview of the report, here are some of our key findings, from respondents, which included nearly 200 executives at  healthcare provider, products and services organizations:

  • Training on policies is healthcare organizations’ top challenge. 75% of respondents indicated that their top policy management challenge was training employees on policies. Rounding out the top three challenges were version control and reducing inaccurate policies (67%) and creating and updating documents (66%).
  • Healthcare organizations are managing a significant number of policies. More than one quarter (29%) of survey respondents reported they are managing more than 1,000 unique policies, procedures and documents, and more than half (60%) are managing at least 250 documents.
  • Half of respondents describe their current approach to policy management as “maturing.” For most, that means it is centralized but not automated. More than a quarter of respondents (28%) describe their approach as “advanced,” which includes standardized policy creation and review. Only 14% consider their current system “basic” or completely decentralized.
  • Nearly half (46%) of respondents use specialized policy management software. Specialized software does appear to facilitate measurement of policy management execution for many healthcare organizations. Among other benefits, software users are much more likely to be able to track and report on their policy management effectiveness than non-software users.

We hope you’ll join us for the webinar next week, where we’ll take you through all of the survey findings—and answer questions about the top ethics and compliance training challenges you’re facing. Register today! All webinar registrants will receive a complimentary copy of the full benchmark report.
