Battery supply agreement signed for massive Gemini solar + storage project

Primergy Solar signed a sole battery supply agreement with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited for the $1.2 billion Gemini solar + storage project outside of Las Vegas. Once completed, Gemini will be one of the largest operational solar and storage projects in the U.S., with a 690 MWac/966 MWdc solar array and 1,416 MWh storage capability.
Sempra Energy hydrogen pipeline, blending proposals face opposition at CPUC

Hydrogen projects involving Southern California Gas and San Diego Gas & Electric – Sempra Energy subsidiaries – are facing opposition from certain environmental and ratepayer groups, according to comments filed on October 12 at the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). The proposals involve a $35.3 million demonstration project to blend hydrogen with natural gas and the Angeles Link hydrogen pipeline project.
Crimson Energy Storage 350 MW/1,400 MWh battery storage plant comes online in California

Project partners Canadian Solar and Axium Infrastructure have begun the operation of Crimson Energy Storage, a large-scale battery energy storage system in Riverside County. The newly operational standalone battery project is among the world’s largest and is in the California desert about 13 miles from the nearest city, Blythe.
SDG&E expands its microgrid and energy storage portfolio

Microgrids and energy storage systems have helped avoid power emergencies more than once this summer in San Diego Gas & Electric’s services areas, and the utility is working to rapidly expand its portfolio of both types of projects. Last week, SDG&E announced the start of construction on a new energy storage and microgrid project – one of four on its docket that will bring another 39 MW of battery capacity to its service area.
