  • Iowa AG Brenna Bird and Texas AG Ken Paxton co-led a group of 16 Republican AGs in sending a letter to Alphabet, Inc. about YouTube’s content moderation practices.
  • In the letter, the AGs said they have received reports that YouTube is allegedly censoring or suppressing conservative commentators despite Alphabet’s prior public statements that it had ended certain moderation policies used during the Biden administration related to COVID-19 and election fraud.
  • The letter also claims some creators allegedly remain negatively affected by enforcement actions tied to those policies YouTube said it discontinued.
  • The AGs asked Alphabet to answer a series of questions about how YouTube moderates content and said they are evaluating whether the company’s practices align with its public statements and comply with state consumer protection laws.
