Below is this week’s congressional update by BakerHostetler’s Federal Policy team. We’ll continue to post in weeks when both chambers of Congress hold floor votes.

HEADLINES

•  Negotiations between a bipartisan group of lawmakers and the White House on a large-scale infrastructure bill enter a critical phase this week.

•  The Senate will vote on Democrats’ voting and campaign finance legislation that is likely to fail on a procedural motion.

•  BakerHostetler’s 32^nd Annual Legislative Seminar will host two important House leaders: Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., today, and Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., on Wednesday.

HOUSE

• The House will be in session Tuesday through Friday. The agenda centers on nullifying various rules from the Trump administration using the Congressional Review Act.
• The Natural Resources Committee will hold a legislative hearing Tuesday on ocean-based climate action.
• Hoyer highlights the continuation of BakerHostetler’s 32^nd Annual Legislative Seminar Series this afternoon, followed Wednesday by McMorris, the Energy and Commerce Committee Republican leader.

SENATE

• The Senate plans to continue working on President Biden’s nominees and will vote on election and campaign finance legislation.
• The Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday will hold a hearing titled Protecting Real Innovations by Improving Patent Quality.
• The Senate Commerce Communications, Media, and Broadband Subcommittee will hold a hearing Tuesday on telecommunications network resiliency.

WHITE HOUSE

• Biden is continuing to press toward a bipartisan agreement on infrastructure.
• Thursday he will travel to North Carolina in an effort to promote vaccinations.
• Friday, Biden will host Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and chairman of Afghanistan’s High Council for National Reconciliation Abdullah Abdullah for a White House meeting as violence with the Taliban escalates ahead of plans to fully withdraw American military.
