Congress returns this week from the Memorial Day recess. The Senate convenes today at 3 p.m. The House will meet Tuesday at noon — look for GOP lawmakers to continue their internal bickering over immigration and the failed farm bill vote.

Here’s what else is in store for the week:

House

Water Resources Development Act of 2018 (WRDA). The chamber will take up consideration of the 2018 water infrastructure bill (H.R. 8) as early as Wednesday. The reauthorization measure covers projects related to flood control, conservation, and waterway improvements, among other things.

FY 2019 Appropriations Bills. GOP leaders have put together the first FY 2019 “minibus” package, which covers the Energy-Water, Legislative Branch, and Milcon-VA spending bills. Passage is expected.

CFPB Hearing. On Wednesday, the House Financial Services Committee will hold a subcommittee hearing on “Improving Transparency and Accountability at the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection.”

Senate

Judicial Nomination. A cloture vote has been scheduled for 5:30 p.m. today on the nomination of Robert Earl Wier to be a U.S. district judge for the Eastern District of Kentucky.

Defense Reauthorization and WRDA. The chamber may take up consideration of its FY 2019 defense reauthorization bill and the 2018 water infrastructure bill (S. 2800).
