The future of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) vaccine mandate is again uncertain and the mandate is now temporarily on hold across the country.

The CMS vaccine mandate was nationally halted by a federal district court in Louisiana on November 30, 2021. The Louisiana court issued a preliminary injunction barring CMS from enforcing the mandate nationwide. The ruling came shortly after a separate federal district court in Missouri issued a preliminary injunction for the mandate — that injunction was only effective in 10 states, see our recent client update here.

As discussed in previous client updates, there is still the possibility that the judicial system will act quickly and this ruling will be overturned. That would leave the original compliance dates in place. For now, stay the course and stay tuned (again).
