June 8th, 2023
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM ET
Prenatal vaccines provide important protection for pregnant women and newborns against communicable diseases such as whooping cough and influenza. However, fewer than one out of four pregnant women receives all federally recommended vaccines during their pregnancy. Moreover, vaccination rates are lower among pregnant people covered by Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) than among people with private health insurance.
In a new webinar, Manatt Health reviews the current landscape of Medicaid and CHIP coverage and reimbursement for prenatal vaccines—informed by a survey of all 50 states, plus Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico—and discusses actions that states can take to improve access to prenatal vaccines for Medicaid and CHIP enrollees. These findings will be set forth in greater detail in Manatt Health’s soon-to-be-released white paper. Click here to register for this free webinar and earn CLE. Key topics that will be covered include:
- The essential role of prenatal vaccines—and the need to address disparities in access and uptake for Medicaid and CHIP enrollees.
- Current coverage of prenatal vaccines under Medicaid and CHIP, as well as impending changes in federal coverage requirements.
- Trends in fee-for-service reimbursement for prenatal vaccines under Medicaid and CHIP, with a look at reimbursement policies for physicians, advanced practice clinicians, registered pharmacists and federally qualified health centers (FQHCs).
- State policy opportunities to promote access to prenatal vaccines under Medicaid and CHIP, including how to ensure adequate provider reimbursement, optimize the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program and leverage managed care organizations (MCOs).
