The issue of whistleblowing continues to draw attention. The media regularly reports on whistleblowers who have reported legal violations in politics and business. The topic has now moved onto the legislator’s agenda in several countries. The different national regulations range from whistleblower protection regulations to requirements for reporting channels. In October 2019, the European Union adopted a new directive to protect people reporting on breaches of EU law. The aim of the directive is to set minimum standards for whistleblowing protection in Europe.
