Kansas is the Latest State to Snap Into Action Against Snapchat Youth Harm

Snap, Inc., the creator of Snapchat, alleging that the company engaged in deceptive and unconscionable acts that have harmed consumers, particularly teenagers, in violation of the state’s consumer protection laws.
According to the
complaint
, Snap allegedly misrepresents the safety of Snapchat for children and the effectiveness of its parental controls, exposing minors to harmful and mature content; the complaint also alleges that Snapchat is intentionally designed to be addictive.
The complaint seeks declaratory and injunctive relief, civil penalties, and attorneys’ costs and fees, among other relief.
