Katherine Scanlon has a wide-range of experience in representing commercial and insurance clients in complex litigation on a nationwide basis. Kathy’s extensive experience representing clients in the financial services, life insurance, reinsurance, and property and casualty insurance industries has provided her with a deep understanding of a range of substantive issues affecting these industries, as well as a broad knowledge of the regulatory landscapes in which they operate.

Kathy’s clients have called on her to advise them concerning pharmaceutical marketing fraud, annuity product litigation, regulatory issues, product development, ERISA litigation, insurance fraud, and insurance coverage relating to data loss and cyber coverage issues. She has represented clients in life and disability claims, business torts and a variety of other general commercial and business litigation matters. She also counsels clients on a wide range of regulatory issues affecting the life insurance and annuity industries.Kathy has litigated lawsuits in state and federal courts across the United States, ranging from the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, in addition to a host of other courtrooms in other locales.Kathy frequently advises clients on how to deal with concurrent litigation in multiple forums, and counsels clients on the most effective ways of dealing with legal battles on several fronts. She acts as national coordinating counsel for insurers, overseeing multi-jurisdictional litigation, as well as other matters.Kathy’s work representing insurers includes extensive work dealing with secondary insurance markets, and often focuses on protecting insurers from potential problems relating to those markets. She has extensive experience representing structured settlement obligors and annuity issuers in matters involving claims to payments, fraud, and secondary market transactions.
