Practice/Organization Description

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Pepe was Division General Counsel of the Nation’s largest residential real estate developer, wherein he reported directly to the Division President. His responsibilities included management of the approvals department, including: targeting acquisitions, land purchase negotiations, managing and evaluating due diligence, representing corporate interests before local, state and federal approval authorities, and securing land use and administrative approvals.

Since joining the firm, Mr. Pepe’s practice has included a broad range of transactions – includingacquisitions and sales, financing and leasing – across multiple property types, includingoffice, retail, industrial and residential. Mr. Pepe has considerable experience securingdevelopment approvals and closing commercial real estate transactions. Most recently, he represented 1) the developer in connection with the leasing and parcel sale of a large shopping center in Burlington County, New Jersey involving national big-box retailers; 2) a large energy company in connection with the acquisition of property rights necessary to deliver power from the company’s power station in New Jersey to a location in New York City; 3) a court appointed trustee in a partnership dissolution action related to the management, leasing and sale of a shopping centers located in Washington State; 4).the seller in connection with a $25 million shopping mall acquisition; 5) a lender with respect to a $14 million construction loan for the construction of single-family homes in New Jersey; 6) a big-box retailer in connection with a 215,000 square foot ground lease; 7) a residential developer in securing land use approvals for construction of 130 townhouses in Newark, New Jersey; 8 ) a nationally recognized not-for-profit in acquiring and securing development approvals for the construction of affordable housing throughout the State of New Jersey; and 9) a developer in securing a use variance and land use approvals for construction of a retail center with 270,000 square feet of retail and 110,000 square feet of office space.
