Cathal obtained a Bachelor in Business in Legal Studies (B.B.L.S) in University College Dublin (U.C.D). He subsequently obtained a Diploma in Web Design Programming in Dublin Business School and a Diploma in Commercial Property Law in the Law Society of Ireland.

Cathal is also a qualified Notary Public and a member of the Faculty of Notaries Public of Ireland. He is also the Company Secretary of the Dublin BID Company Limited which is focussed on promoting the City Centre. Dublin City BID is a not for profit organisation charged with creating a welcoming and economically viable city environment. It represents 2,500 businesses in the city centre and works with its partners to enhance the appeal of the city centre as a place for shopping, recreation and business development by increasing footfall and improving overall trading performance. It is behind such innovative projects such as, 'dine in dublin', 'unique to Dublin', and 'Dublin at Christmas'.
