He and his firm, DiTrapano Barrett DiPiero McGinley & Simmons, PLLC, represent West Virginia clients in personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, serious workplace accidents, business and commercial cases, employment cases, consumer cases and class actions.

Mr. McGinley has been counsel in a number of prominent cases, including representing the State of West Virginia in cases to recover unpaid workers compensation premiums as part of project resulting in over $80,000,000 in settlements, representing the State of West Virginia in a case against a drug manufacturer that resulted in a $10,000,000 settlement, representing former West Virginia Governor Arch A. Moore, Jr., in his effort to restore his law license, representing University of Arizona Head Football Coach Rich Rodriguez in a lawsuit with West Virginia University, and representing a coalition of community groups in a successful challenge of former West Virginia Governor Cecil Underwood's unconstitutional appointment to the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals.
