Alabama Employers Urged To Register For New Online Tax Filing System

As of July 1, 2013, Alabama employers will no longer be able to file and pay withheld taxes using the Paperless Filing and Payment System (PFPS). Instead, they will have to use My Alabama Taxes (MAT) to file and pay online.

The state Department of Revenue (DOR) is urging employers to register in MAT as soon as possible to allow time to become familiar with the new system as some features have changed. MAT is a secure system with more functionality than PFPS and can be used to file returns, make payments, view account history and departmental letters, among other functions.
