FDIC Office Of Inspector General Reports On FDIC’s Cybersecurity Practices – On August 11, 2016, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s (“FDIC’s”) Office of Inspector General issued a report based on an audit of the FDIC’s information security policies, procedures, practices, and capabilities, as mandated by the Cybersecurity Act of 2015. The primary objective of the report was to describe the FDIC’s cybersecurity practices rather than to assess the adequacy thereof, and accordingly, contains no recommendations. The report notes that the FDIC’s logical access policies generally reflect appropriate standards and that the FDIC “generally had system access controls in place,” but that “appropriate standards had not always been followed.” The report is available here.
