Regardless of what kind of law you practice, you are serving people with families. You may be serving them to build their companies, or to get compensated after an injury or to ease their way through a divorce…

Maybe you’re helping them to get through a criminal matter or start over through bankruptcy. Whatever it is you’re doing for your clients, you are serving people.

The thing is, chances are high that you are missing a huge opportunity to not only make a big difference in these people’s lives, but also in the lives of their families for generations to come.

Not only that, but you are possibly missing a big opportunity to bring in a lot more revenue for your law practice.

Sadly, even if you are serving families by providing wills and trusts right now, you are very likely missing this boat…

Well, if you were trained in the traditional business model of an estate planning lawyer!

One short-sighted decision about how to handle my grandmother’s estate and a failure on the part of the lawyer who worked with our family destroyed generations of our family wealth.

Was it malpractice? Probably not. It’s common practice. We simply have not been properly trained to serve the needs of families when it comes to critical issues around creating more family wealth during our client’s lives, and then helping them to pass that wealth on in ways that create more wealth in successive generations. Even if we’ve been formally trained as estate planning lawyers.

That’s why we train lawyers to provide estate planning services to families in a whole new way.  Forget whatever you were told in law school—estate planning isn’t boring, it’s not dry and it’s VERY lucrative. When done right.

In fact, we think it’s the best practice area for lawyers, bar none. Again, when done right.

And it can (and we believe should) be an add-on service for every client that you are currently serving in right now. When you do add it on, you are serving your clients more deeply, locking in your relationship with them and providing a service that they know they need, really don’t want to think about, but are THRILLED you’ve handled for them. When you do it right.

This means you cannot just create a set of documents that are basically the same thing they could get online…

What you can do is become the trusted advisor who helps them choose the right people to raise their kids, if they cannot. You support them to understand how to create more family wealth during their lifetimes, and how to make sure that their family doesn’t get torn apart at the time of their death because they’ve left open loops.

Instead, you guide them with care to think through who gets what and how. You support them to communicate that to their loved ones as simply as possible, with as little legal-ese as possible, so there can be no question whatsoever why they made the decisions they did and how to carry out their wishes.

This is not cookie-cutter planning, but it is highly systematizable. That’s part of what makes it the best practice area out there —you can literally learn it or add it on to an existing practice with quite a bit of ease.
