On July 2 the Obama administration announced a one year delay in the implementation of the Affordable Care Act's employer mandate ("pay or play") to January 1, 2015.
The administration cited the complexity of the employer and insurer reporting requirements and the need for additional time to implement changes required by the Affordable Care Act as the reasons for the delay. This delay provides employers faced with the difficult task of compliance more time to prepare, and perhaps some easing of the rules will be forthcoming.
