CFPB extends comment period on debt collection ANPR

In a notice scheduled to be published in tomorrow’s Federal Register, the CFPB is extending the period for commenting on its debt collection advance notice of proposed rulemaking from February 10, 2014 to February 28, 2014. The notice states that the CFPB had received “three formal written requests from industry trade groups” for an extension of the comment period and “informal inquiries from other types of stakeholders expressing an interest in having more time to compile information in response to the ANPR.”
